The former military leader, who met President Tinubu standing to receive him as he alighted from the car, went to the office with him, for an undisclosed meeting, shortly after exchanging pleasantries.

General Abubakar will be the second former president of Nigeria that would be paying a visit to the new president, since he got to the office on May 29, 2023.

Similarly, former President Goodluck Jonathan paid him an official meeting, to brief him on developments within the West African Sub-region, on Tuesday.

Abuja was the military president of Nigeria between 1998 and 1999, and he was the one who returned the country to civil rule, by handing over to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, after winning the presidential election in 1999.
