The tribunal chairperson, Justice Cordelia Ogadi, who led two other members, dismissed the petition for lack of merit and inability of the petitioners to prove their case as required by law.

The tribunal held that the petitioners also failed to prove allegations of irregularities during the polls and awarded N500,000 cost to be paid by the petitioners to each of the three respondents.

Recall that Matawalle, filed a petition challenging the authenticity of the governorship election.

Matawalle, who is now Minister of State for Defence, had accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of subverting his victory at the polls, for failure to include the results of some ward areas, which if added, will give him victory with a wide margin.
