Turkey president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has revealed that Turkish forces in Syria have killed the leader of Islamic terror group ISIS.

Erdogan claimed that on Saturday, a Turkish intelligence operation resulted in the “neutralisation” of the group’s leader, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi.

According to the Sun UK, agents are thought to have murdered the terror leader in Jindires, a town in northern Syria four miles from the Turkish border.

Erdogan told the TRT Turk TV station on Sunday that “This individual was neutralised as part of an operation by the Turkish national intelligence organization in Syria.

“MIT (the National Intelligence Organization) has been tracking the so-called leader of Daesh, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi, for a long time.”

According to reports, the operation comprised targeting an abandoned farm that was being used as an Islamic school.

The mission apparently entailed Turkish commandos assaulting the residence and engaging with ISIS members around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Al-Qurashi reportedly detonated explosives strapped to his body after they purportedly managed to surround him.

Locals believe that the fighting continued for approximately an hour until there was a huge explosion.

When ISIS announced the death of his predecessor, Abu al-Hasan al-Hashmi al-Qurayshi, who was killed in action in Syria, in November, Al-Qurashi rose to become the group’s fourth leader.
