Tweeps react as Supreme Court upholds Adeleke's victory

Social Media was set buzzing on Tuesday after the Supreme Court upheld the victory of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke at the appeal court.

The apex court, in its judgment read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, set aside the appeal by Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress challenging Adeleke’s victory at the 2022 Osun governornship election.

The apex court held that the appellant failed to adduce enough evidence to prove his allegation of over voting in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll.

The verdict has continued to generate various reactions from Nigerians who have taken to different social media platforms to express their opinion.

Below are some culled from Twitter.

Reacting to the verdict, the Delta State Governor-elect, Rt Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori, tweeted, “Congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his Supreme Court victory! The ruling affirming him as the rightful governor of Osun State is a victory for democracy and the will of the people.”

Also, Bashir Ahmad,special assistant on digital communications to the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), tweeted, “Congratulations to H.E. Ademola Adeleke who has just been affirmed by the supreme court as the elected governor of Osun state. I do hope our neighbors will also congratulate us on our yet another victory.”

Also, the incumbent governor of Delta State, who was also the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP in the 2023 presidential election, Ifeanyi Okowa, tweeted, “Congratulations to my dear brother and friend, Governor Ademola Adeleke, the people of Osun State and the People’s Democratic Party (@OfficialPDPNig) on today’s Supreme Court decision!”.

While former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, tweeted, “Today’s Supreme Court ruling in favour of @AAdeleke_01 is a triumph for democracy and the people of Osun State. I congratulate my dear brother Governor Ademola Adeleke and our party on this victory!”.
