The Resident Electoral Commissioner, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Mike Igini, has advised Nigerians who were not able to register for the just concluded voter registration.

Premium Politics reported that INEC closed its portal on the 31st of July while also adding that It will not extend the date for the continuous voter registration beyond the deadline date.

The electoral body also revealed that the total number of fresh registrants was 10,487,972 as 12,298,944 Nigerians were able to complete registration.

While many Nigerians have lamented their inability to register for their permanent voters’ card, Igini while speaking on Channels TV on Friday morning stated that the electoral body will not be extending the registration process as it needs to focus on other activities.

He however stated that those who were unable to register for their PVCs should reach out to others and dutifully ensure the mobilization of those who registered.

According to him, the challenge is not to register for the PVCs but to ensure that those registered come out to vote during the election.

“Those who could not register have a duty and that is to ensure that they encourage and mobilize those who registered to vote during the election.

“How do we get the 12,298,944 people who have registered to vote, this is the challenge and everyone must rise up to mobilize others and make sure that they all come out to vote,” he said.
