Labour Party’s presidential running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has revealed the reasons he accepted to become work with the party’s flagbearer, Peter Obi.

Baba-Ahmed explained that he accepted the party’s nomination to become the running mate to Obi because he believes in the credibility and ability of the former Anambra State governor to lead Nigeria.

He stated this when he was unveiled as Obi’s running mate in Abuja on Friday.

Baba-Ahmed said, “I believe in the capacity and credibility of Peter Obi to make Nigeria live up to its billings, his achievements when he served as the Governor of Anambra speak highly of him.”

He added that he has confidence in Obi’s ability to manage the country’s finances.

Premium Politics had reported that an ally of Obi, Doyin Okupe, on Thursday, submitted his letter of resignation as the party’s “stand-in” running mate on Thursday.

His name was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, as a placeholder to beat the submission deadline in June.
