Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said his accomplishment and experience in handling the state will give him a second term vote by the electorate.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Sanwo-Olu said he has been there for the cosmopolitan city even at the expense of his family, adding that his service to the people will speak for him at the polls come 2023.

He said, “‘They (Lagosians) feel the experience… at 3 am who would you call? A man that has experience; that has been there and has rolled up his sleeves to keep the city safe? the biggest city in the country, and its the safest city, and its the city that gives the best opportunity on a continued basis for three years.”

“Lagos came out of COVID, nobody talks about that, we take it for granted, it been a very difficult time for the government, but we saved this nation. I lost people, my deputy governor lost his brother, I lost a senator, I lost an honourable member of a house of assembly, but we saved the nation. We came out of it (COVID-19), stronger, bigger and bolder,” he noted.

Speaking on the aftermath of the EndSARS movement, he said, “It is a work in progress, everybody would have one thing that they want from the other, but if you look at the generality of my citizen towards the young people, they understand, they feel us. I have trained over 400,000 people in digital skills alone in Lagos, that is what they want. I have enabled a lot of people with LASRIC, which is the Lagos State Science, Research and Innovation Council; we are giving them grants on innovation, on technology. We are not asking for money.”

However, Sanwo-Olu’s confidence in re-election is still debatable following the recent loss by the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola to Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Also, Sanwo-Olu’s predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, was in office for a single term.
