A former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Felix Ogbaudu, has given reasons why policemen attached to Very Important Personalities must be withdrawn.

Ogbaudu, while speaking on Channels Television on Monday, stated that the act of attaching men of the Nigeria Police Force to politicians and other personalities has been at the detriment of the nation’s collective security.

The former AIG also condemned the recent jailbreak at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja where several inmates escaped including Boko Haram members.

Speaking on Monday, Ogbaudu said, “We need to increase the strength of the security operatives, UN (United Nations) ratio is one police officer to 400 men, here in Nigeria we are a far cry from that number.

“What we have here is a situation that has seen politicians, and celebrities engage the use of security personnel for their personnel safety and we must move away from this act which is fast becoming a norm.”

“My sincere recommendation is that we must have an overwhelming national security presence. This is the only option to deter these individuals due of their sophisticated network,” he added
