According to Daily Post, Gumi revealed that the decision of Tinubu to pick Shettima was solely based on political strategy.

Since Tinnubu announced Shettima as his running mate on Sunday, the media space has been flooded with mixed reactions from many stakeholders who are registering their grievances and acceptance of the former Lagos State governor’s decision to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.

Gumi while addressing the Muslim-Muslim ticket controversy stated that it was just a strategy to win the election.

According to him, the electorates, particularly the aggrieved ones, have the right to vote for their preferred candidate.

He said, “It has nothing to do with religion. It’s pure vote-getting strategy and nothing more. It now depends on the voter to choose from a wide range of choices”.
