The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has invited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to commission a project in Rivers.
Aside from Buhari and Obi, Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, invited former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
The monarch is billed to inaugurate the Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers on Monday.
Also, Oshiomhole will commission the Rumuepirikom Flyover in Obio-Akpor on Wednesday while Obi will inaugurate the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
However, Buhari will commission the Nabo Graham Douglas Campus, Nigerian Law School, in Obio/Akpor on Friday.
This is not the first time Wike has invited members of opposition parties to commission projects in Rivers.
In August, the Rivers governor invited his Lagos counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterline Junction) flyover in Port Harcourt.
Also in October, Wike honoured an invite by the Lagos State Government to attend a women’s conference in Lagos, where he endorsed the APC’s Sanwo-Olu for second term
Commenting on the invitation of Obi, the spokesperson for the LP presidential campaign council, Yunusa Tanko, in a tweet on Sunday, said the LP is inching closer to reclaiming Nigeria for Nigerians.
Tanko tweeted, “We are inching closer to reclaiming Nigeria for the Nigerian People… Join us Rivers State People!!!. We keep moving Obidently & Yusfuly. Destination Aso villa.”
