The former Kogi West senator and a Peoples Democratic Party Governorship aspirant for the state’s coming governorship election, Senator Dino Melaye, has lambasted the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over a recent comment against him.

Premium politics had early reported on Tuesday that Wike claimed while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt today, that the former lawmaker does not have what it takes to govern a state.

However, in his reaction to Wike’s claim, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Dino claimed that the Rivers governor picked up a fight with him because he did not support the governor’s presidential ambition.

He,, therefore warned the governor to start planning how to survive after he quits the government house on May 29, 2023.

The statement reads in part, “I can understand the pain of Wike. He wanted my support for his misplaced aspiration to become the Flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 Presidential election but knowing his avowed credential to be eminently unworthy of the ticket, I deployed support for His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, a cosmopolitan and cultured statesman who ignored all the tantrums of Wike throughout the election.

“Wike has probably mistaken me for His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. He needs to appreciate that now that he has touched the tiger’s tail and murdered sleep, the discomfort of a bird perched on a rope has now become his portion.

The former senator, who had declared his intention to join the Kogi race in a series of tweets, officially declared his interest join the race on March 29.

The governorship election is scheduled to host in the state, on November 11, 2023.
